Hi! I'm Megan
Hi! I’m Megan, a final-year biology student passionate about animal behavior, plant biology, and conservation. I created this blog as a place to share my knowledge and curiosity about the fascinating ways biology connects animals, plants, and people.
When I first started my biology degree, I envisioned a lab-based career, with a rather narrow view of what biology could encompass. However, over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to study an incredible variety of topics, including animal behavior, marine biology, neurobiology, evolution, genetics, biodiversity, and conservation. These experiences have broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for the diversity and complexity of life on Earth.
Here, you’ll find articles on sustainable living, animal behavior, forensic biology, wellness, and more. As a student, I love sharing interesting facts I discover along the way and offering useful tips on a range of topics that spark my curiosity.
In addition to classroom learning, I’ve had the opportunity to experience biology in the field through trips to places like Cornwall, the Eden Project, and the Isle of Mull in Scotland. These adventures have inspired my understanding of real-world ecosystems and the urgent need for conservation.
Currently, I’m working on my dissertation, which explores nutrient deficiencies in crop plants grown in areas with poor soil quality. These plants are vital for food security in regions where nutrient-rich soil is scarce. My research has sparked a deeper interest in sustainability and food resilience, topics I hope to highlight on the blog.
Forensic biology is another interest of mine, especially forensic anthropology. Last year, I completed a course with Durham University in forensic anthropology and archaeology, which gave me insight into how biology intersects with crime-solving—a theme I look forward to exploring in future posts.
I’d love to hear from you! Feel free to comment on posts, share your thoughts, or connect with me on social media. Let’s explore the world of biology together and discover the amazing connections that make our planet so unique!
